The Longest Journey

As I lay awake in bed at night
Suffering from the lack of sleep
I think of thoughts
I never thought would otherwise exist

The longest journey of ones life
begins not when u are born
This journey i am talking about
starts the day your baby comes home

From the day you conceive
you harbour dreams
of a life your child will live

The dreams and plans begin that day
and last till you are through
your child is going to live the life
you'd have always wanted to

you change your life and plans you had
you think of the best you can do
all these things that you could have done before
but till now it never occured to you

Its funny how the birth of your first
can alter the way you think
the things you once desired
now seem to hold no meaning...

The longest journey of your life begins...
the end is nowhere in sight
for thats a parent you see
and thats the truth of life

The journey of your life does begin the day you are born but i feel that you mature and really start thinking about life once you have children.Its becoming a parent that brings about the selflessness within you. The day you stop thinking about yourself and embark on thinking about another.... the LONGEST JOURNEY
